Being a member of the LHS
Wrestling team is quite an honor.
Being a parent of a LHS Wrestler is
even more so! We parents spend
HOURS sitting together on those
hard bleachers. We find lots of
creative ways to keep comfortable,
thats for sure!
With economic times as they are and
the schools not being able to give a
lot of money in support of their
teams, we parents have taken the
initiative to do fund raising for this
team. With the fund raising we did
over the past 3 years, we were able
to pay a portion of the cost for the
hotel rooms on overnight trips and
we also able to cover the cost for our
State Championship Jackets two
years in a row!
We are beginning more fund raising
for this upcoming season. This year
we are faced with more hotel rooms
as we have more overnight meets as
well as increased gas and food
prices. These issues make this
coming season all the more
challenging.
There will be 5 nights that we will be
spending in hotel rooms. The school
can only fund for the one Coach's
room. We need to have money to
cover the other rooms that wrestlers
will be staying in. Also, on these
overnight meets, there are no buses
and parents have to transport. While
there is a lot of carpooling, it is still
difficult with gas prices still hovering
around $2.70/gallon.
So we ask you as a community to
help support your State Champions
and attend our fund raisers that are
listed to the right.
